Welcome That time of year again when the Fireside gets awakened as preparations for the winter seasons fall upon us here in the Canadian North. Not certain if anyone else is having difficulties uploading images to their blog posts but try as I may and nothing happens. Thus this post will be rather bland with just my feeble words appearing. I may get lucky and get a few uploaded... Please settle in and let me share a little of what has been happening. Miss Angel at large again... Mother Nature decided we needed a little reminder of what is to come last week and this is what we woke up too. One day walking around in cutoffs and the next bundled up and defiant saying go away for awhile. Many roads had to closed and the safest place to be was the ditch in this case. A good day to start a fire at home and just sit and relax. Most of the ditches are still filled with drifted snow even though it has warmed back to cutoff weather. It was with shock and horror as we watched what unfolded in Vegas last week. So many innocent people passing at the hand of one man. There are rumours drifting around there may be other gunman but the loss in insurmountable and we like you in the US grieve and pray for all people affected. So many unanswered questions have still to be found, no matter what is found it reaches far and deep into society. Our prayers are with all as they deal with the loss... The river valley is starting to show its fall colours and soon the river will be frozen again. This is an area I have drifted through while fishing. It is an area commonly known as the Badlands as little grows. Farming is non existent because of the high clay content. It is mainly haying and or cattle in the valley. It is also known for the numerous dinosaur digs and the entire valley is very much protected. The Terrell Museum which is close to me has an array of reconstructed fossils which have been found. It is a great place to spend some time standing in awe at the size of these creatures. Just the thought of them once roaming through this area leaves you to stand in awe. The museum is huge and takes you a good hour to get through. Even then you have only scratched the surface of the history of the area. My back is so-so with a considerable amount of pain. I have an appointment of the 19th with a specialist and we can look at some treatment options. In the meanwhile it is pills and more pills to combat the pain. As much as I hate pills they are the norm now it seems. The writing machine has again started, I am working on a two book series at present. The first novel is near completion now. So it looks like this winter will be a busy one with a little traveling. So there you have it all caught up and looks like I managed to get the photos uploaded. I am running a Mac and just uploaded the new MacOS 10.3 High Sierra and it like anything new has a few bugs to work out. So far I love the upgrade... Well back to catching these two fingers on fire in this new novel... Hugs to all from Alberta Canada... © Rolly A. Chabot
