Good Morning Welcome Its a cold one out there this morning with yet another dump of that glorious white stuff. All the fall work around the place has been completed with the exception of some tree pruning. I just have to look out into the backyard and I shiver, maybe tomorrow the sun will return. My abode sits smack in the middle of a visible trough in the mountains to the west. I do get some strange weather blowing in from the west but this year has been an exception as most of the wind is rolling in from the north and west. In saying so I do hope you are wearing your warm clothes. Not certain if you know what red woolies are but I suggest you get some if you are visiting Alberta Canada... lol... your secret is safe and I will never tell a soul. Welcome and please do make yourself at home. The fireplace is dancing and singing it own sound. Fresh pumpkin tarts and steaming coffee seems to be the order of the day. So let's play a little catch up while you simply rest. Stay as long as you like and please enjoy the atmosphere and know that you are loved.... Treasures We all have them and after years they seem to get filed away into that great unknown. The other day I was in the studio searching for something and I came across this little treasure of years gone past. It was not mine but I did find it in a home I bought years ago. The home was close to 80 years old and over the next few years I renovated the place. What was interesting after I bought the place I discovered a set of those stairs that fold up into the ceiling... strange I never saw it while buying the place. What I found that day was a trove of all things old. Magazines, catalogs and newspapers dating back several years. In the clean up process I donated most of it to museums and societies. That was except for this little prize, nothing like a kid with a slingshot hanging from his pocket. Of course the rubber has deteriorated but that is something easily repaired. What it did was bring back memories of my grandfather painstakingly making one for me. Of course it disappeared many years ago but this find warmed my heart. Eventually the small attic space became a private library of sorts along with a few saved findings. I even cut out a hole and placed one of those huge floor grates so I could at least get some heat and air movement. It became a selling feature a few years later that sealed the deal. Smoker Season The colder weather seems to bring out the desire to smoke anything and everything that I eat. This particular dish was bacon wrapped chicken breast and I can tell you it was some good. I found this new thing a while back called a hamburger Jerky Gun. Once loaded with lean meat it is like a caulking gun and with pressure squeezes out your creation into thin strips that are easily dried and or smoked. I ordered the contraption... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h94ci8RB0GI so you can see sort of what I am talking about. I tried the seasoning they provided and it was not great. The next batch I created a Rolly Mix of crushed onions, garlic, salt and pepper along with generous doses of soya sauce and teriyaki. Top it all off with a Montreal Steak Spice and you have a snack worthy of some acclaim if nothing else your own... lol... Raise your hand if you care to try some. Snap Crackle Pop Well I would be remise if I did not mention the resining behind te title of this post. I am thinking I may start a class action lawsuit against Kellogg's after eating their cereal. Maybe I am not alone and you would like to sign up. You see that is the sound I hear each time I get up after sitting or laying for a spell. I am convinced that the cereal is the cause. This past few years has been a testament of the aging process you start to go through after many years of abusing your body. No amount if complaining changes things... It all in the cereal so join me in the fight... smiles. Well dear friends say hello and if you have found something in all this dribble feel free to share the blog with others. I would be indebted to you and thank you in advance... As always I leave you with a hug or two and some love... Thanks for stopping... Oh yes and I think we need a few funnies... Ok I admit stolen online online and I plead the 5th... lol. This all for the people who love donkeys and I look south to Texas and for all the cat lovers out there... hope they bring a smile to your face... Blessings as always... Hugs to all...
