Welcome Thank you all for your support and interest in my Fireside Chats. Several have asked to write a little of the region called home. In Canada we are fortunate to be able to travel, getting a little variety. Gather around and get settled in, please know and feel that you are dearly loved. Cuddle in close and please do leave a comment should you feel led. The Road Leading Away or Home We do like to travel here and travel a few miles and you are in a completely different setting. The area I live in is known as South Central Alberta. I have three major cities all within a 2 hour drive. The town I live in boasts a population of 3500 people. the businesses here are not the big box variety they are mostly the small Mom and Pop type. We do have all the amenities we need really but for any major shopping we have to travel. these are the trips you plan on and cover all of your needs in the one trip. Traffic is not an issue unless you count the four way stops. We have no traffic reports on the radio... smiles. I posted a quote a while back that read "A mile of road will take you only a mile... a mile of runway will take you as far as you want to go." Very true yes but after that mile of runway you are going to miss out on so many sights, sounds, people and scenery. We are a mere two-three hours away from a playground created for the adventure seeking type. You will find vistas that will hold you captive and provide you with much challenge. The hiking is great and of course the fishing is amazing.... of course I have to tell you the fishing is. Mountains and Rivers Galore Needless to say scenes such as this are breathtaking. I have spent many an hour wading through this ice cold waters fishing. I am thankful for my insulated chest waders as they help me forget how cold the water is. This river is called the Bow River and it is world renowned for its abundant supply of various species of trout. Recent studies released through a Government study say there are approximately 2000 fish per mile live in these waters. Of corse the majority of fish caught by fisherman are careful by returning them back into the river. Sadly there are also those who take all they can get. It is very closely monitored and poachers are reported immediately. If you are a climber or like to scramble there is a challenge level available for all. I sit in amazement thinking of the power it took to raise such a peek from the ground. It is here in places like this man feels humble and very small knowing someone far greater than yourself had a hand in creating such beauty. Again the majesty of beauty which can be seen from a distance. In winter months they are completely covered in snow as layer upon layer is added in the powerful storms that are high above. The snow pack melting provides the rivers and streams with amazingly clear water available for your pleasure to drink without fear of contaminants. Between where this is taken from the Bow River winds its way through the landscape several times. There is no such thing as an easy hike to the bottom of this range. The Rockies are very daunting and have challenge to even the most experienced climbers and hikers. Here as well is some of the highest incidents of Black and Grizzly bear. You as well with find a plentiful supply of Elk, Moose, and Deer. In the higher portions there multitudes of Big Horn Sheep and Mountain Lions. It is a National Park and the taking of game is illegal. Again a good example of man leaving nature to itself and not harvesting the resources in his normal reckless manner. Nature cares for itself... Leaving The Rockies It always leaves and empty spot in your heart as you leave this country and its majestic beauty.A few days later you again begin to realize no matter where you live there is a beauty all of its own. Take the time to look around where you live. I am certain you will see for yourself how unique and different it is. I suggest you take those little side trips on occasion just to appreciate all that is in your grasp. May you find a small stream or quiet river, may you see the beauty that surrounds you. Above all be blessed with all you have been given... Hugs to all... `

These photos are breathtaking. WOW! They make me miss the Rockies sosososo much. I grew up in the Rockies - farther south than where you are, but the peaks and vistas and the pristine, sacred places just...wow. This makes me really want to build a remote cabin up where you are. :)
