Welcome Sitting here and this is the view I have before me. It is peaceful and in the shade and that is great as it has been fairly warm. I do have a slight breeze coming through, enough to keep the bugs off anyway. I arrived on Sunday and the weather has been amazing so far. Sadly it has been ok but not the greatest fishing but again that can happen. All in all that is ok as fishing can not always be productive. Please settle in a little and lets see where the fingers take us today. Please feel welcomed and know that you are loved. Ever have one of those days where the simple things in life seem to go sideways? It has been one here with a planned luncheon which was cancelled unexpectedly. A shame as I was looking forward to it. I will be leaving the Island tomorrow and heading back to the mainland. From there I will be heading to the northern portions of the Province of British Columbia. The fire danger has dropped considerably so I should be fine to travel. I do have a plan once there to take a small float plane trip over to a place called Bella Coola. It is a temperate climate, the name in Heiltsuk Native Culture is derived from the Kwakiutlan Indians of the Northern West Coast. It is the local dialect, very foreign to many yet if you know some of the Cree Indian tongue you can get by. the meaning of Bella Coola is the word "Stranger" in the Heiltsuk language. I could drive over but in light of the forest fires I think a quick flip in a plane is better. The main industries are Fishing, forestry and Public Service. The population is near the 2000 mark and it caters to the tourist industry as it is a popular spot to be. They warn you well in advance if you are travelling through be certain to book well in advance or you will be without room. The West Coast has much to offer and certainly a great place for tourist. I have been here several times and it is somewhat like coming home in some ways. Needless to say I love the Island and it diversity. It's people are fascinating, it takes little or no time to quickly learn of peoples origin and or the reason why they are here. Interestingly some of what are called the Gulf Islands. It has become somewhat of a mecca for seasonal living. There will always be the transient people but these are people who choose to spend part of the year actually living in the region... Well it is off to bed again and looking to set foot on terra terma again... in real english that is solid ground attached to more solid ground. Great to visit and all but afraid I have been a flat lander far to long to change... Hugs and all to everyone... know that you are loved... © Rolly A. Chabot
