Welcome The old Fireside has been burning low this past while, Thank you all for the well wishes and encouragement you have sent. Our creative sides as hobbies, making old loves come to life again or better yet maybe something brand new. I think I could say we have something awaken in us. We here in Canada tend to stay close to home so we just bundle up when we go anywhere have, have your list often the full day is set aside for the running. Once outside you do feel great with the cold. We have been staying in that zero range for a few weeks now. That old song "Toss Another Log On The Fire" Weather radar is showing a front moving through as soon as tomorrow fairly certain Sunday. Just in case you do not follow me on FB or some of the other sites we have in common it was a very successful surgery. When I awakened in recovery within 15 mins they had me up and walking, doing exercises there was no pain what so ever. I am so blessed by my heavenly Father and the many faithful who prayed. Please do come in close and leave the burdens of the day outside, help yourself to tea and mind Angel with the cookies, trust me she is a pro. Make your self at home, you can put your feet anywhere you like and just rest in the moment. Exploring Art I came across a new art form I have come to love. It has opened a brand new love for art as well as awakening a new path to wander on. One should never go through his or her day without wanting to learn something new. It is called Paint Pouring with acrylics and media an near anything is possible. There are some real pros at this on utube. Just use Acrylic Pouring and see for yourself. When I first started I tried many of what others are doing and since then I have lots of failures that became my test subjects. I am certain if it interests you then get your supplies together. Just beginning my first stop would be the Dollar Store. I am an old skin flint when it comes to trying new things. I think most people think as I do... There you can find a good array of most of what you will be needing. Too start you need only the minimum, as you progress you will be on a learning curve as to why the paints react as they do. It does have a great deal to learn of pigment weights. This may give you an idea of what happens in a simple three colour blends with white, black and a very small touch of blue with a few small drops of silicone. The exciting part is having the patience to wait and let it do what it wants. In the end you need to find the will to stand back and study it add little character with lightly blowing on it. The final step is use a blow torch or hair dryer to help bring the small circles called cells out. Most will appear quickly and a little coaxing is needed. Make it your own and soon you will have a great collection of Christmas Gifts or really any gathering you are attending as give aways. Happy Dog Angel has settled right into this home. She has a habit of sneezing when she is very excited, then it starts to sneeze when she is super excited. She loves her walks during the day, in the evenings its the fenced in back yard. It is comical to watch her come in and her head is covered in snow. It is funny to watch her motor through the deep snow with her head under. She has a well establised routine that has turned into a schedule of her needs and wants. Offer one scratch and you will expect that you are going to find that hard to reach spot. Oh hold on she is not quite done. Then comes the complete massage from head to toe. In reflecting back I think of having to make that decision of putting poor Quigley down to finding this sweetheart. Losing Quigley was very hard after all she lived here for eight years. Her ashes rest on the mantle here. Angel was the ticket... she is very special. Finding Rhythm Again I think of newness when I think of the past 6 months and the constant pain. Just amazed at the difference. The major next on the to do day is get at the garage and get it cleaned up again. Hard to believe amount of things which have built up. As we age we really need to downsize, here in North America we are far to good at saving stuff. If we have never looked at it in how long why are we taking up valuable space. Having been somewhat involved in administering two estates I was so very thankful in understanding what do we really need it all for. There I just gave myself a kick in the rear. My biggest problem is I have so happening all at once, creating little messes all over. I get far to focused at what I am doing right at the moment sometimes it gets left. All it comes down to is a bit of lazy as well. I have in floor heat in the garage run from the natural gas boiler. Most times it sits just above freezing. Nothing in there will parish except my pride should someone has to go in there... yet another kick in the rear. Yet Another This is another in closing that is in the works so to speak I am waiting on the actual works to arrive. It will be a clock very quickly. I am thinking the hands a light brown with a wisp of red on them. Call it the old northerner in me but there is none other that stirs the soul at witnessing the Northern Lights. They were so near you could almost touch them. You have to experience the sound they make to gain a full display from the heavens. It is a hard sound to explain, almost like the tinkling of thousands of slivers of crystals making it for just you. Nature is so amazing and inspirational I have frozen my ears and nose a few times while being spellbound. I have been inspired to try it with painting again. Needless to say I am sure you may wonder I anyone could cut a perfect circle. Well it was not me but sadly an old 78 Vinyl record had to bit the bullet, it became the canvas. As you experiment you look at things far differently.... Ya there goes the theory of cleaning out the garage. Definitely no before pictures as each time I have to go in there I am instantly looking for the owner. Well dear friends, thank you for stopping and spending time. Any questions drop them into a comment and if I can help I would be more than happy... Love and blessings to all... hugs are a must. Here is another with just the two colours, just a little leftover paint on a plain white paper box. I am tossing around the idea of punching out small ovals, three the same size. Then notch the inside for a wire hook and glueing them all together, then smoothing out the edges lightly paint them. After it is all done a light coat of varnish and a chain. Just thinking a little outside the box again...lol Caught Up Again So there you have a snapshot of the past month or so. Like I said us Canadians know where it is warm and cozy. I am taking a Geology course online from Open University and another from Future Learn. Yet another interest that has caught my eye is rock polishing. I have a real love for Agates, sadly they are not native to Alberta. Right now I buying them off eBay but the freight is the killer. They are fairly common in British Columbia along the Frazer River where I go Sturgeon Fishing. So I can kill two birds with one stone. Montana is another which is only 5 hours from me. The two tumblers I have and the one Vibrating unit have been going steady for 3 months now... Ya I know... So there we are caught up again. Maybe a little snooze before I tackle the garage... see the way this mind thinks. Next week I am designing a small studio in an open area in the basement and I will build a small painting area in the shape of a inverted U that way I can be workingon three sides, right now it is sorta all over the place... Thanks for stopping in I hope I have not bored you to tears... Angel the boss sends a sneeze... Hugs from Canada © Rolly A. Chabot

Oh, Rolly! I LOVE your paintings! It makes me want to get back into painting. I'm looking at those and thinking of...space. When I was younger, I wanted so badly to be an astronaut. But somewhere along the line I realized I didn't want to be stuck doing all that math all the time when I could be imagining new worlds and creating beautiful things with art!
