Welcome Gather around I have made it back home after a few days at the cabin, restful, peaceful, quiet and very still. If you are anything like me well you seek that same peace and when you find it the distraction are few other than the sounds of nature and your surroundings. Welcome once again to the Fireside where special people like you come to say hello and read these ramblings I produce. Settle in and lets talk about quiet and peace and the benefits of decluttering. Ponder a Moment Lets take a few minutes to quiet the mind. Sageleaf our newer member is an expert at bringing the mind, body and spirit to the place of finding peace. If you have not read her posts then you are truly missing out on an experience. Thank you Cynthia for all the hard work you have done to find that inner self you have learned to grace your life with. Please do check her work out, having adopted some of her practices there is a new found peace which comes easier to me as I practice her teachings... When we think of all our senses coming to a complete standstill in this hectic life it is so foreign to us we get to that point of the mind being a revolving door of the "To Do's" we loose site of what truly matters. Over the years I have read many books and articles on the subject of self guided peace. Yes they work but there is a few constant's in life that draw us right back into the fray of being so busy we forget about all else but the tasks at hand. There are many pressures today most people face. We have all the tools at hand to simplify daily tasks and yet we still have Sticky Notes plastered all over as reminders of what we should do. Clutter Lets start small and ask a simple question. What does your workspace look like? Is it neat and organized? Is it by chance a mess filled with clutter of all sorts? No matter what profession you are in your personal workspace or for that matter the home you live in is one area to look at. I am by no means OCD about my writing space but I have come to the conclusion I have far to much "Stuff." Come now do not be shy just go ahead and name it and claim it. The University of Google opens doors to research in any direction your mind takes you, for me I still have that love of books. There are specific categories, writing, fishing, some of the classics we all have. I suppose when I look at them I do see clutter but any and all writers love books, thus I get a pass. We all have our quirks do we not. The main point being that if you have a mess all around you it will distract your attention. That messy garage will loom over your thoughts and can actually hold you back from creating as you know it will take time to sort through all our trophies. The Mess Compounds Itself
What seems impossible becomes very possible when you start the clean up. That little check mark you place on the to do list is very satisfying. Seeing something tangible at the end of the day is a great feeling. In the Golf Course industry to simply stand at the top of the hill at the end of a busy week gave a wonderful feeling. The best part is you know you have given your customers the best possible value for there money. Keep Expectations Within Reason I think I would be safe in saying you need to learn to walk before you run. The best approach I have found is a room at a time. Anything you have not used or looked at in a long while can easily be turned into cash or better yet pass it on to someone who will make use of it. The less you have the less you have to worry about. This coming from the guy that still has to much. I can smile and recall the days when everything I owned I could carry on my backpack. I do hope each of you has a quiet place where you can shut out the world and be one with nature or wherever you find yourself. It is that fast pace moving in all directions around us that as well will steal your peace and joy. I hope you are able to find that place and decompress from the demands in life...
