Meeting Angel

Welcome as Always

Here we are again, glad someone gave me a swift kick in the butt and got me back to the computer. I ran 8000 words through today on a new novel I will call "River Run." So far it seems to be falling into place.

Sorry no fire tonight, just plumb to hot here to start one... please help yourself to all the goodies... settle in and lets play a little catch up.

As you can see it is a hard life. I had a few days of sailing and fishing on one of the larger lakes close by. It is roughly 38 square miles and boasts having some great Northern Pike fishing.

Afraid my raw hide turned a little red. Me without long pants and well now I have two very bright red legs and feet. Old fart thing, you would think after all these years I would have learned something.... but well its hard to teach an old dog new tricks. The fishing was good and I managed to catch a few good sized ones but let them go again.

This one is around the 6 pound range and close to 3 feet long. It is the Northern Pike, they are a very aggressive fish. They have row after row of needle razor sharp teeth and have a very fierce attitude and strike at most anything you place in the water.

This one I caught on a sinking fly line with very light tackle. I released all I caught as I had no way of keeping them on the sailboat other than a small  cooler that had lost its ice quickly in the 90 degree temperature.

Being a fairly large lake I was able to find a few quiet coves to settle in for the night. There is nothing better than being rocked to sleep with gentle waves lapping at the sides of the boat while being tucked away in the cabin. I even managed a few pre downloaded Netflix movies on my iPad. Both the phone and iPad remained charged through a new solar panel system that seems to work very well.

Next on the list is to install a new AM/FM, marine radio with SD Card capabilities. I have several pre-recorded audio books and of course pod casts and music. I had to order a special antenna for it and it should be here in a few days.

Let me be the first to introduce the newest member of the household. Everyone this is "Angel" she is 6 years old.

I found her on an ad from Kijiji. The lady who owned her previously had to give her up for various reasons. We met up in a city a few hours from here, it was a very hard day for this lady as "Angel" has been a part of her life since she was born. I have to admire her as she took the time and effort to researched to be sure Angel would be a good fit. To me that shows dedication and love and tells me the dog is special.

The place she had moved would not allow pets and I watched as she turned over her companion over to me, the tears she shed were so sad to see. It was indeed a hard day for her but she is comforted via text to learn little "Angel" has settled in so well, after all this will be her baby forever. It was a privilege to be selected from 60 other potential new owners.

Angel is truly special as she took to the new house very quickly. Four words are prominent, Treat, Pee, Walk and Car Ride... it is cute to watch her fall right into any and all words.

Angel has some limited vision in her right eye. As a younger dog she was scooped up by a large white owl. Apparently she was a fighter as the owl dropped her from fairly high. Her only injury was her right eye had been popped out of its socket. It was a long surgery but they managed to reinsert and attach the eye. What she can see from it only she can tell. Approaching her from the right and behind does surprise her a little and that is to be expected.

Even in brand new surroundings she seems to be adapting well. Come morning it will be easier to assess the change... looking forward to getting to know her better. I am certain she will become attached quickly...

Hugs as always ... now you have all the news... love and hugs to all...

Welcome in Rolly's home, Angel! May the two of you enjoy each other for many years to come.

What a life: Sleeping and relaxing on a boat! Well, I guess angling and cooking could be considered 'working'.

Those solar panel chargers are extremely handy!

Love and hugs to you, Rolly!

Hi Martie...

Oh yes they are a burden... you know the fishing and cooking etc... plays one right out...lol
Angel has already worked her way right into my heart. Being a Havanese like Quigley there are so many similarities. The breed is so loving and care so much for their people. Angel will fit right in... I was talking to her Mom tonight and she tells me she loves boating and water. Yet another thing of concern are thunder storms and her mom assures me she is just fine as long as her people are near. Tis the season here so good to know. I am very pleased she has accepted all I have to offer... just so loving... maybe a bit of a flirt or can I use the term tart... she just fits and I am so blessed...

She is a beauty for sure, and will soon discover what a loving family she now belongs to. Hugs from Oly.

Hi William...

Thank you and Angel is settling in very nicely... afraid she has already stolen my heart. Next is training day on the sailboat in a week or so. We already have mastered the change in home so well... she is answered prayer for certain.

Awww Rolly,

This is such a great post!

Congrats to Angel on her new adoption! Must be divine design 'cause she's surely in good hands!

I've never been on a sailboat and think it's awesome that you have one!! I love boats and used to spend weekends on my folks' old cabin cruiser and loved it!

A tour of your boat in a a future edition would be much appreciated!

PS, beautiful fish!

Hi Angelia...

I have little or no doubt in my mind this dog was meant to be a part of this house. I have prayed for the right dog and it looks like Angel has won over this heart for certain. I will take her out and she how she does with sailing and fishing.
I may have to do something on the sailboat and t he life of living aboard. It is a little cramped at times but I do love getting out and chasing the wind...

Hugs and blessings

Hey there, friend! Sorry I missed this right when it came out; life has suddenly gotten very busy. But, as things settle down and I learn to manage all my new tasks, I'll be back to a routine in no time.
Your pics made me think that we haven't been out on the boat since June. This is terrible. lol. Hmm...perhaps we'll take the boat out for the eclipse. We will have totality not even 30 minutes from where I live. It might be a good day to get to the lake...early! lol.
But, here's to hoping you're having a wonderful week. And look at your newest family member! She's sweet and sounds like she's very loving. That's so interesting about her right eye. You know, I have no vision in my right eye. A birth defect. But I'm a fighter, too - I can relate to little Angel. :) She has an incredible story.
Dear friend, I'm sending you big hugs and lots of love and light and hope that sunburn healed up just fine. lol.

Hi Cynthia..
Thanks for the lovely note and yes Angel is just that a true Angel and so filled with love. The lady who was her mom before is in contact nearly daily and I have learned much of Angels past.
I had no idea about your vision loss but so happy it has not slowed you in any way. From your site and mailings I can understand and concur you are one busy lady. Please do get out on the boat and be sure you have the proper eye wear.
It is time I wrote something of an update on Angel settling in, I have fallen behind in some areas... far to many projects on the go...

Good morning, dear Rolly,

I feel more relaxed after seeing that shot of your feet...LOL - what a great picture.

A radio? An 'Angel' on deck? Your boat sounds perfect to me.

I had a strong feeling you and Angel would connect. She sounds plucky and sweet too.

Love the vision of you 'chasing the wind'. Hugs, Maria
